An all-new season of Engineers Unplugged kicked off today, and yours truly was very excited to learn that a recent recording I did at VMware Partner Exchange with Joe Onisick of Cisco has been selected as the season premiere! Joe, though he’ll never admit or cop to it, is one of the smartest dudes I know, and it was a privilege to share this conversation with him. Every time I have a chat with the guy, I learn something new. I’m a big fan of what Cisco is doing with Application-Centric Infrastructure (ACI) in the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) space, and I’ve attended several sessions and deep dives on ACI with Joe leading the charge.
In case you’re not familiar with Engineers Unplugged, it is the brain-child of Amy Lewis (@CommsNinja) of Cisco. I asked her what the show’s tagline is, and the response I received was brilliant…
“Two Engineers, One Whiteboard. Tech in 10 minutes.”
I love it.
This is my second appearance on Engineers Unplugged, and I’ve enjoyed them both thoroughly. As a presenter, the compressed 10-min format really makes you think about what’s important to say, and what can be thrown to the wayside. This is an important concept for anyone that has to be a presenter. Don’t assume you always have an hour and a captive audience.
Without further ado, on with the show!
In this episode, we talk about Role- and Policy-Based Management of infrastructure assets!
